Walking Beam Furnace
Lindberg Walking Beam furnaces are designed for high temperature sintering
of metallic and ceramic materials under controlled atmosphere. The walking
beam transport system provides true rectilinear motion to eliminate hearth
wear from heavy abrasive loads sliding along the surface of the hearth.
This action helps ensure a clean, uncontaminated atmosphere within the
furnace. Vertical motion of the beam is accomplished by means of a hydraulically
actuated arm connected to a series of interconnected pivot arms with
rollers. The rollers support the beam along its length at frequent intervals.
Horizontal motion is accomplished by means of a second hydraulically
actuated arm connected to the last interconnected beam sections. Adjustable
guides are provided to assure alignment of the beam motion. The beam
is sectionalized to reduce space requirements for insertion or removal.
A mobile beam cart is supplied for conveniently inserting or removing
beam sections (one at a time) from either end of the furnace. The controlled
rectilinear motion of the Lindberg walking beam maintains accurate alignment
and spacing of the load as it progresses through the furnace.
The furnace features a proven refractory design that provides a long-life
Dutch arch and keyed hearth. The refractory shapes are installed without
mortar to minimize process contamination and compensate for expansion
and contraction during thermal cycling. The result is a long service
life with very little maintenance.
Furnace chamber cross sections from 6-inches wide x 4-inches high to
15-inches wide x 12-inches high are available. Preheat and sintering
furnace chamber lengths, as well as cooling chamber lengths, are tailored
to your process time/temperature profiles and production requirements.
