Vertical Pit Vacuum
Heat Treat Furnace
Lindberg top-loading vacuum furnaces provide fast, efficient, and economical
heat-treating. Temperature range to 2400°F.
The heat treat furnace system offers a variety of temperature and
vacuum controls to meet a broad range or process requirements. And
there are a number of two-stage mechanical blower pump systems and
diffusion pump systems available. The pumping system brings the
vacuum to levels needed in your particular application. Lindberg
will recommend a proven pumping system that will give you the precise
control, speed, and economy of operation you require.
Loading and unloading are made easier through the use of a full swing
cover with an air-operated lift. The vacuum chamber contains no sliding
parts or air cylinder shafts, thus reducing maintenance. The system heats
and cools efficiently without moving the load.
An externally mounted motor powers the cooling fan and eliminates vacuum-sealed
motor maintenance problems. A minimal maintenance vacuum seal is utilized
on the fan shaft to ensure a positive seal. The cooling fan circulates
inert gas through the workload and the internally mounted heat exchangers
at pressures up to 2 PSI (positive) to ensure fast, efficient cooling.
Rugged graphite tube heating elements are individually replaceable.
Vertical side wall element array operates on low voltage, three-phase
secondary to eliminate corona effect and line unbalance.
The heat shield assembly consists of a shingled, Grafoil hot face backed
with low density, lightweight fiber insulation, mounted on a steel module.
The use of lightweight fiber insulation ensures rapid heat-up and cool
down while minimizing power requirements.
Heat Treat Furnace
Features / Benefits
- Microprocessor-based controls—programmable controller provides
maximum control flexibility.
- Chart Recorder
- Furnace interlocks that shut off heating element power
when chamber exceeds preset vacuum or when vacuum loss occurs; also
when water
flow is interrupted or excess temperature is indicated.
- Energy savings—vacuum
system uses power only when processing.
- Greater load capacity—pit style
furnace takes up less floor space than horizontal front loading furnaces.
- Vacuum
systems negate the need for expensive atmosphere generating systems
- Clean
working environment—vacuum furnaces can be used in air-conditioned
plants since water-jacked shell minimizes heat released into
the room. The furnace pumping system removes contaminants.
